MECC - Make Every Contact Count Online

This is a public health England course and is based around healthy conversation skills, enabling people to recognise opportunities to support others to make changes to their lifestyle that will improve their wellbeing, understanding that enabling them to find their own solutions is more effective than telling or suggesting changes they can make.

It is based on the idea that everyone, no matter how small the amount of time or contact we have with an individual,  can have a positive conversation and plant the seed for change.

We look at how peoples beliefs can affect their practice and how by using open discovery questions we can understand the world of the other person and the barriers they believe they face that prevent or hinder change.

During the course we also look at the benefits of reflection to improve how we interact, how we ask questions and the response types gained.

'Make Every Contact Count' training explores how anyone can use simple conversational skills to help people reflect on a problem, make positive decisions, and take smart steps towards achieving their goal.

The course uses engaging exercises and group discussions to challenge perceptions of how to 'help' someone, and encourages attendees to reassess how we ask questions. And as a group we explore personal SMARTER goal setting and how this fits into our own lifestyle challenges and with MECC.

This course is delivered online so you will need access to the internet and a smartphone, tablet or laptop/computer with a microphone and camera.
